Mark Putney – CEO and Founder | Second Sun Inc.
Mark is a founding principal of Second Sun, Inc. since its founding in 2013 and is responsible for all business and management functions along with raising private equity investment and real estate acquisition for the companies various projects. Mr. Putney is currently a founding managing partner and a principal of MNM Partners LLC since its founding in 2006. Mr. Putney evaluates all tenants in common offerings and continues to monitor property performance after closing, striving to provide the highest level of performance for every co owner. He works directly to organize and fund all MNM group investments in the Bay Area. He is the direct link to all MNM investors and is responsible as a fiduciary for over $30M in equity raised for the company’s current offerings.
Mr. Putney has also had direct involvement in the high-tech industry since 1984. He has lived in the Silicon Valley since 1978. In 1985 he founded Techsystems Inc. a sales and marketing company promoting high end capital equipment to the semiconductor and printed circuit board assembly industry. The company started from scratch and ultimately exceeded $50M in sales. In 1987 Mr. Putney founded Screen Manufacturing Technologies servicing the PCB assembly industry. After selling his interest for a multiple of 25, the company was sold to an international public firm. Mr. Putney has founded several other businesses in the PCB assembly, electronic product and financial services industries returning well over 200% IRR.
He has direct experience with start-ups and has an extensive network of management, manufacturing and marketing contacts and is well connected with the Venture Capital industry in the Northern California and Texas markets. Mr. Putney founded TAT Capital Partners Ltd., a venture capital firm in 1997 and contributed in raising 2 funds totaling $120M in venture partnerships. He has made investments in several early stage technology companies. He has served on the Board of Directors for ZF Micro Devices Inc., Surface Interface Inc. (acquired by FEI Company, NAS DAQ: FEIC), Optcom Corporation, Scivac Corporation and nLine Inc. He is currently a member of the Band of Angels, the oldest angel investing group in the US focused on seed stage opportunities.
He lives in San Jose with his wife of 36 years and has two grown children and 2 granddaughters.
